Roger has worked with many breeds of horses for over 32 years, in both the UK and USA. He has competed in hunter jumping, dressage, horse trials, endurance and steeplechase racing (UK), has shown under saddle and driving, was an exercise rider in a British racing yard, and rode to hounds in the UK. His specialties are training horses, ponies and minis for carriage driving, training novice drivers, mentoring competitors, and reschooling ex-racetrack Thoroughbreds for second careers.

Roger also has expertise, both under saddle and in harness, with the Mountain and Moorland breeds (British native ponies) including Dales, Fell, Highland, New Forest and all sections of Welsh. He is the resident carriage driving trainer for Davidson Dales Pony Farm in Clayton, CA where he has trained and successfully shown the imported Dales Pony stallion Colliery Alick in Pleasure Driving shows, Horse Driving Trials (HDT) and Carriage Driving Events (CDE).
